The iconic Waldorf Astoria Hotel on New York City's Park Avenue will be auctioning thousands of its furnishings starting October 17. More than 15,000 pieces that will be sold at the end of the month include furniture, paintings, chandeliers and decorations that lined the Waldorf Astoria's rooms and on-site restaurants.

According to Kaminski Auctions, some items deemed "historically priceless" have been restored for display once the hotel reopens, including Cole Porter's 1907 Steinway grand piano and a rocking chair used by President John F. Kennedy.
