Emomali Rahmon was re-elected president of Tajikistan for the fifth time on Monday. The head of state obtained the fifth term of seven years, with 90.92% of the votes cast. The election result came as no surprise in the absence of significant opposition.

Tajikistan is the poorest country in Central Asia and the former USSR. Tajikistan has more than 9 million inhabitants.
