Opel ended 2021 with a significant rise in market share. According to early estimates, Opel obtained a full-year market share of roughly 6.2 percent with a total of around 162,000 newly registered cars in its significant German home market, Europe's largest automotive market. This represents an increase of almost 1.2 percentage points compared to 2020.

Despite the hard climate, Opel maintained its current upward trend in December, increasing its market share for the 15th consecutive month. With about 15,000 new registrations, the Rüsselsheim-based company gained a market share of 6.5 percent, which is nearly 1.4 percentage points more than the number for December 2020.

The Opel Corsa played a vital role in the team's success. In 2021, the sixth version of the best-selling compact automobile was sold about 50,000 times in Germany alone. This makes Opel Corsa the most popular compact vehicle on the German market during the previous year. The Corsa was even the best-selling vehicle in Germany in November. The new Opel Mokka is also a best-seller, finishing second in the SUV B class in December, according to early data.

The continued popularity of the battery-electric vehicles Opel Corsa-e (Golden Steering Wheel 20201) and Opel Mokka-e in December is especially pleasant. Almost a fifth of the 4,900 newly registered Corsas were electric. The percentage of all-electric Mokkas was significantly greater. Around 30% of consumers received a Mokka-e, the Golden Steering Wheel 20212 winner.
